Hey there!
I’m Hillary, an empathic creative, perpetually pursuing raw human connection with abandon. I’m also the founder and Principal Heck Yes’er at Heck Yes, Y’all LLC.
After more than a decade of creative working experience and a crapload of trial and error, one thing has proven irrefutable: I’m the most “me” version of myself when I’m being creative and when my work requires me to provide joy or ease for others.
In addition to my formal education at Pratt Institute, autodidactically explored new mediums of creative expression as I started a small business. Regardless of the medium, when I sit down with creative work I can lose hours as if they’re minutes and always crave. As a creative individual, I know all too well the power that art has to soothe, relax, release and express myriad emotions.
I’m currently pursuing a Masters in Creative Arts Therapy Counseling at Hofstra University. I’m drawn to art therapy because I believe it is a priceless tool in creating connection - with others as well as with one’s self. Art therapy has the potential to serve as an excellent bridge in moving toward more direct communication in talk therapy if/when a client has experienced severe trauma and has trust issues, they don’t have the language for what they’re feeling, or they’re just not ready to say it out loud.
Art therapy can be a powerful tool in creating a less intimidating journey toward recovery and healing.
